I've been a poet since before I could write. Click on the link at left, below, to see my 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 performances for East by Southeast (ExSE) Spoken Word Showcase, as originally cablecast on public access television ChannelAustin, now on YouTube.
Some time ago I appeared with fellow
poet Larry Piltz on Rag Radio, hosted by Thorne Dreyer on Hornsby-Austin radio
. Some friends were unable to listen in at the time; others weren't sure how that "streaming radio" thingie works! From
here, download and listen to the whole show
on Windows Media Player or your media player of choice, recorded by KOOP producer and friend Allan Campbell in a high quality mp4 file. We had a lot of fun, reading some new and old work, and talking about what poetry is "for," and where it comes from.
I've also included links to former US anti-imperialist political prisoner Marilyn Buck reading one of her poems, "Wild Poppies," from within the walls of Dublin Federal Correctional Institute, California, and to the Freedom Archives, where you can order her CD of the same name. Marilyn, my friend since 1966, died August 3, 2010, after 19 days of freedom following 25+ years incarceration in US gulags. My 2011 ExSE performance was in her honor. You can see Marilyn's publications on the
Rag Authors' Page
. A posthumous poetry collection,
, was released by City Lights Press in 2012.

HOT OFF THE PRESS and soon available in an electronic edition, this new-ish collection of verse and cartoons kicks down the doors of propriety and demands to be read aloud.
